Our digital transformation is well underway but, as we leverage technology to improve our operations and ultimately enhance our guest experience, we recognise that it’s the people behind the technology who really make the difference. And we’re shining the spotlight on Harriet Reed who has gone from strength to strength since joining us in 2020, and has been recognised by SeaTrade Cruise as a rising talent in their #20Uunder40 programme.
The programme honours the cruise industry’s leading young, bold thinkers, change-makers and future shapers, and was judged on leadership, innovation and remarkable contribution. Colleague, Charlotte Stephenson-Hart, nominated 34-year old Harriet for the award, championing her passion and evidencing the holistic approach to decision-making which sets her apart.
Carnival UK’s Director, Fleet Technology, Chris Chudley, said: “This is a fantastic accolade against some very esteemed company, and is great recognition of Harriet’s hard work and commitment.
“Her dedication and innovative mindset make her an outstanding member of our technology team, and this was obviously recognised by the judging panel. Harriet’s unwavering passion for her work is contagious, positively impacting colleagues, and her contributions creating incredible connectivity for guests and crew will have a lasting impact on our organisation.”
Harriet is deeply motivated to continual personal and professional growth, actively seeking 360 feedback from colleagues to build on her self-awareness, enhance her strengths and address any weaknesses. She joined the CUK team in as Technology Analyst and progressed through junior and senior Project Manager roles before being promoted to Product Owner for Onboard Connectivity.
Harriet said she wakes up with ‘pinch me moments’ that she does what she loves for a job which she describes as “geeking out on new technologies to enhance coverage, improving quality of experience, creating new crew and guest packages”.
She said: “Being shortlisted among people of such a high calibre blew me away, and I really didn’t think I’d win. I work with an amazing global team and love what I do; I really care about delivering great connectivity so going an extra mile is just automatic.
I’ve been lucky to have been supported by inspirational colleagues including an amazing mentor. I’ve had amazing career progress, but it’s the people around me who have allowed me to grasp the opportunities and grow.”
